A little over a year ago, we got the first announcement that NOLA Motorsports Park will be coming to rFactor 2. Since then, the dev pipeline has gone silent, and many were wondering when the track would be coming. Now, we at least have a confirmation that development on the home of the Louisiana Grand Prix has begun!
NOLA is one of the more recent circuits on the IndyCar calendar, with the circuit first opening up five years ago. The track features the North Circuit, which is the larger circuit that IndyCar and other series race on, as well as the karting circuit. In addition, an autocross pad is also on the circuit. It is not confirmed if the karting circuit and autocross pad are coming to rFactor 2, but I would not be surprised if at least the kart track makes its way over. It would be quite awesome if autocross was somehow implemented as well, but I wouldn’t hold my breath.
This is one of two “Modern-Era” IndyCar circuits coming to rFactor 2, with the other one, I believe, is yet to be announced. Many Indy fans were excited to hear the announcement of NOLA last year, myself included. However, it looks like it will be a little while before we can load them onto our rigs, as it seems development is not very far underway.
Unfortunately, NOLA Motorsports Park only saw one IndyCar Grand Prix event, with the 2015 race being hit with unfortunate weather. However, we will be able to relive IndyCar at NOLA via rFactor 2. For now, we can check out awesome onboard videos, like this one with James Hinchcliffe racing around the circuit.
