Image Space Incorporated has released the second oval track for rFactor 2, Mountain Peak Speedway. This was one of the earliest circuits teased for the sim, but it was totally renovated to match modern standards.
Mountain Peak Speedway is based off of Charlotte Motor Speedway, and features a staggering seven configurations. The speedway’s many configurations can cater to nearly every kind of racing discipline:
- Speedway (1.5 mi)
- Legends Oval (.27 mi)
- Karting Oval (.219 mi)
- Infield Road Course (2.269 mi)
- Kart Long (.62 mi) (Also features Reverse Layout)
- Kart Short (.41 mi)
(For the Legends Oval, someone PLEASE port this mod from rFactor 1!)
This is a wide variety of racing that can be had at Mountain Peak, and is bound to be a blast for everyone. I haven’t given the track a spin yet, but I’m looking forward to. One thing I want to test out is how grooves will form in the oval circuit, to test how that can factor into oval racing, once the Stock Cars are released. In the meantime,
Mountain Peak Speedway is the second oval circuit for rFactor 2, following the release of Indianapolis Motor Speedway last year. We will likely see some more ovals coming in the near future, including Jacksonville (“Not Daytona”), and a rumored “Virginia” circuit. There is an unnamed “Stock Car Road Course” in development as well, which should be exciting for the community.
There is no concrete release date for the Stock Car content for rFactor 2, but hopefully we could see it around this Spring. Are you looking forward to racing the stock cars on Mountain Peak Speedway? Let us know!
