NASCAR Heat Evolution Announced

One of the most popular NASCAR racing series for consoles and PC was Monster Games’ NASCAR Heat. Many have wanted a sequel to the popular racing title, and we finally are! Well… sort of.

Dusenberry Martin Racing has announced NASCAR Heat Evolution, the first NASCAR title to make its way to the Playstation 4 and Xbox One.  While many fans, myself included, may be wary of the latest iteration of the NASCAR series for consoles, DMR has one major trick up its sleeve: the return of Monster Games.

Monster Games was the team behind NASCAR Heat, NASCAR Heat 2002, and NASCAR: Dirt to Daytona (one of my personal favorite racing games). After EA Sports obtained exclusive rights to NASCAR video games, Monster worked on Test Drive: Eve of Destruction, before teaming up with Nintendo upon Infogrames’ folding. With Nintendo, Monster put out games like Excite Truck, PilotWings Resort, and assisted Retro Games with some projects.

Now, they are returning to NASCAR, nearly 14 years since their last title. It will be exciting to see what Monster Games is able to do, and if they are able to recapture what made the original NASCAR Heat great.

According to the Amazon Pre-Order listing, Monster Racing is developing the title from the ground up, so hopefully it will wash the poor taste of the previous titles out of our mouths. All 23 Sprint Cup Series circuits are confirmed to be making its way to the game. The official NASCAR Heat website also confirms that a Career Mode will be included. Whether you enter the shoes of an official driver or create your own remains to be seen. Challenges will be making its return, allowing you to relive some of the highlights of the 2015 NASCAR season.

All of this sounds like the framework for a great NASCAR game, but we’ll find out if it lives up to the hype when the game is released, September 13th, 2016. Are you looking forward to this new title? Let us know in the comments!
