A while back, iRacing announced that a yet-to-be-named manufacturer will be coming to iRacing’s GT3 series, via the Blancpain GT Series announcement. I was assuming but it would be Audi, but today, iRacing has announced that the next manufacturer to come to the GT3 series will be Mercedes-Benz.
While this car may bring more Mercedes-Benz cars in the future, the only car announced from this so far is the Mercedes-Benz AMG GT3. This car is the successor to the SLS AMG GT3, which utilizes the same 6.3L naturally-aspirated V8 engine.
This new addition to iRacing will mark a unique feat; the sixth GT3 car to be implemented into the iRacing service. This will be the 6th GT3 race car to be released for the iRacing, following the upcoming Aston Martin Vantage GT3. As of right now, iRacing only supports five vehicles at one time on the simulation, so this will require some core changes to the sim before the release of the Mercedes-Benz.
The Mercedes-Benz AMG GT3 will be part of the Blancpain GT Series, which will be starting early next year. For more information, just check out this post.
