Codemasters has released a minor patch for DiRT Rally, bringing some minor fixes and additions to the racing title. They have also given us a little update on some issues that the community has been encountering.
First off, the patch addresses an issue with the car repair screen. Some racers have complained about having their game crash on the car repair screen mid-rally. That should be fixed now.
Another error many DiRT Rally owners have encountered is the “Error 41”, which would render the game unplayable. I’ve heard of some fixes to the error, but I haven’t been able to test it out, due to not ever having the issue in DiRT Rally (what’s confusing is that I had it one time while playing Call of Duty with friends…). Codemasters rolled out a beta patch for people to try, but it didn’t work. They are now discussing things with Valve to try to get to the bottom of the issue. Let’s hope it gets addressed soon!
This new patch will also introduce Steam Trading Cards to DiRT Rally. I don’t know the extent of how this will be implemented, but knowing Codemasters’ sense of humor, let’s hope for some pretty funny cards.
It appears that this latest update does not have any improvements to the FFB or physics, but they should be coming in the future. Codemasters announced that they will be working with Betta Lines to improve the FFB and wheel support. Wheel support is admittedly lacking in the game, but let’s hope that does, in fact, get improved as time goes on.
