Thrustmaster is one of the premier sim racing wheel manufacturers in the industry, with a wheel for nearly every platform. However, one gripe I’ve always had is their “replica” wheels were always too small, with the 458 Italia GTE rim being only 11″/28 CM in diameter. Many racers have also griped at the rubber coating many of the rims have had.

Thrustmaster’s TM Leather 28 GT addressed the grip issue, replacing the Italia rim’s rubber for a leather wrap. Now, they have announced another Ferrari replica rim, this time killing two birds with one stone! Enter the Thrustmaster 599XX EVO 30 Wheel Add-On Alcantara Edition (WOW! That’s a mouthful!).

The 599XX EVO 30 Wheel is the first wheel rim since the Ferrari F1 rim to be 30 cm/11.8″ in diameter. Even though .8″ sounds like a small increase, it is rather significant (just see the size comparison image below).

Secondly, the 599XX EVO will feature an Alcantara wrapped rim, similar to many of Fanatec’s wheels. I have heard from many people that they preferred Fanatec over Thrustmaster due to the “premium feel of the wheels”. Maybe this rim may turn some heads, who knows?

This looks to potentially be one of Thrustmaster’s best rims yet, and it will be coming soon! The 599XX EVO 30 Wheel Add-On Alcantara Edition will be released in Q4 of 2015, for a MSRP of $179.99.

Another interesting development from Thrustmaster is that they have decided to release their TX Wheel Base as a standalone product, separate from the rim/pedals. That will make the TX a great product to build a system with, and you can get away from the horrible two-pedal set! The TX Wheel Base will retail for $259.99.
