One of the most anticipated updates for rFactor 2 is set for release in a couple weeks, and Studio 397 has continued to release more previews showing off the next step for the sim. The new batch of previews shows off how the sim will look in VR, as well as a rather impressive shot of the Formula Renault 3.5.
The main highlight in these previews is obviously the VR preview, which gives us our first taste of the sim running with a Head Mounted Display. It is not confirmed which headset this preview was from, but it is stated that rFactor 2 will be running OpenVR, which allows support for the two most popular headsets – the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive.
The content does look impressive, and at a higher level of fidelity compared to what it was before. I’d say the color balance does look a little off, but Studio 397 confirmed that those elements will be able to be adjusted via Post-Processing presets. The new update for rFactor 2 will be coming May 1st, so stay tuned! The new update will also bring an updated UI and menu system. This will mark the largest update to the sim since S397 took over development last year.
