One of the biggest surprises of this holiday season has arrived! In a surprise that may rival Assetto Corsa’s Porsche announcement, Studio 397 has released the so-eagerly-awaited-some-people-thought-it-would-never-come-out Nissan GT-R GT500 race car!
The Nissan GT-R GT500 ran in Japan’s Super GT series under the premier class. The car won the championships in 2011 and 2012, and Nissan fought a valiant effort with this car to defend their championship. Sadly, it wasn’t meant to be, and they lost out to Lexus and Honda.
The 2013-spec Nissan GT-R GT500 is regarded to as one of the last great SuperGT cars, as in 2014 SGT technical regulations became closer to DTM standards. However, the 2013 cars are quite awesome, and quite crazy in some ways. Weighing in at 1,100 kg (2425 lbs), and being powered by a 530 horsepower Naturally Aspirated V8, this thing FLIES like Santa Sleigh! (well… it WOULD, except for the massive wing on the back keeping it down…)
I still remember when this car was first announced for rFactor 2, and I was very excited. I loved the car in Gran Turismo 5, and I was very excited to try in rF2. As the years went by, I was getting more concerned about the sim actually releasing the content. Now, we have it, as well as
Suzuka Matsusaka to race it on. Now we just need Tsukuba Circuit!
You can now download the car via the Steam Workshop. Thanks Studio 397 for finally putting out this car! I’m looking forward to testing it out!
What are your thoughts on this car finally being released for rFactor 2? Let us know!
