Yesterday, we teased a third party mod for rFactor 2, showing off the Nissan GT-R LMP1 by UnitedRacingDesign. Now, ISI has shown us another Nissan GT-R coming to rFactor 2, this time being the highly anticipated GT500 model used in the Japan Super GT series.
The Nissan GT-R GT500 was introduced in the 2008 Super GT series, replacing the 350Z. The race car featured a 4.5 Liter naturally-aspirated V8, as opposed to the stock car’s twin-turbo V6. In 2010, the engine was replaced with a 3.4L V8 (no word on which engine will be in the car yet). The car also features a 6-speed manual gearbox, and a RWD drivetrain, as opposed to the road car’s 4WD and semi-automatic transmission. The GT-R GT500 won the 2008 championship in its inaugural year, and took back to back championships in 2011 and 2012.
There is no word on when the GT-R will be coming to rFactor 2, but seeing in-game previews is an encouraging sign. It will be available as a free download on the rFactor 2 site once it is released. Now if only we can get Tuttle to make Suzuka, or get Reiza to port theirs, like they did with Brazil (hint hint 😉 ).
