Apex Modding’s FIA GT3 mod for rFactor 2 is arguably one of the top third-party pieces of content for ISI’s sim. In April of this year, Apex announced a partnership with Shadowworks to bring some new cars to the mod, and one of the vehicles is the BMW M6 GT3. We now have a short preview video, showcasing the car’s progress in development.
The BMW M6 GT3 is the successor to one of my favorite modern race cars of all time, the BMW Z4 GT3. The car features a twin-turbo 4.4L V8 engine, pumping up to 585 horsepower, depending on configuration. Like the Z4, the M6 GT3 has its engine in the front of the engine. Sadly, unlike the Z4, the M6 does NOT have the predecessor’s glorious engine note.
The BMW M6 GT3 made an impressive endurance racing debut at the 24 Hours of Nurburgring, with one finishing in the top 5 overall, and had three finish in the top 30. More recently, the M6 GT3 took the checkers in the Spa 24 Hour race event, marking its first endurance victory.
While I will miss the BMW Z4 GT3’s sound, I am definitely looking forward to seeing what the M6 GT3 will do. Are you looking forward to this car coming out for the GT3 Mod for rFactor 2? Let us know in the comments!
NOTE: The preview video states that the BMW M6 is the GTLM model. I am not sure if the GTLM model is also included in the mod, or if this is a mistake in the video.
