While Sim Racing is definitely a great hobby, one thing that it has struggled with is organization. There hasn’t been one group that has stepped forward to try to bring everything together. However, that is looking to change, with the establishment of the International Sim Racing Federation. This new group is looking to “organise all sim racers across all simulators, to develop the sport efficiently.” Now, the International Sim Racing Federation (ISRF) have finalized their statutes, and are moving forward with establishing this Federation.
The Statutes help define how the ISRF will appear as a governing force in the Sim Racing World. From what I’ve seen, there will be different “ranks” for drivers, associations/teams/groups, and then there will be an elected Board, as well as Managers. It is still relatively unknown what this is going to lead to in the Sim Racing world, but I’m excited to see what the ISRF will bring to the community.
The International Sim Racing Federation has also announced that they will be opening up public registration for drivers, teams, and associations next month. In April, the ISRF will open registration to the public, and we will see if this can bring communities together. In May, we will see the first major meeting involving the public community, so that will be interesting to see how that shapes the direction of the Federation.
I was one of the first people to join the ISRF, and I’m excited to see what comes from this! What are your thoughts on this new development for Sim Racing? Let us know!
