The biggest news of 2016/2017 is the expansion of Porsche to more racing sims, following the end of the exclusive agreement with EA. Following Assetto Corsa, iRacing is the latest title to announce a deal with the prestigious automaker.
The announcement has stated that the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup will be the first series to come to the sim, and it will be coming very soon! The 911 GT3 Cup, in the form of the latest spec Porsche 991 II, will be coming in January 2017!
The new 911 GT3 Cup is employed by customer sports teams to compete in 20 race series organized by Porsche across the globe, like the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany, the GT3 Cup in the USA and the international Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup – making it the world’s most produced and most used GT race car.
Following that, another vehicle showcased in the trailer is the 919 Hybrid LMP1 race car. This will mark the first LMP1 race car to be confirmed for the sim, so this marks a significant update, especially with Le Mans being released last year. Could we see the LMP1 race car in time for the 2017 24 Hours of Le Mans?
In addition, we should be seeing more Porsches announced in the near future, so it should be an awesome development for the sim! Which car would you like to see come to iRacing? Let us know in the comments!
