After a long time of teasing and previews, the new iRacing User Interface is coming this week! The preview build of the new UI will also bring the new driving mode, Time Attack.
Chris Page, Senior VP of Technology of iRacing has mentioned that the new UI was developed under the codename “Scorpio”, and was intended to be a complete overhaul of the system that has been used since iRacing’s inception. This will NOT outright replace the http://members.iracing.com user interface, but it will run side-by-side, at least during the preview period.
Judging from the preview, the new UI looks very great, and smooth as well! It sounds like there will also be methods put into play which could (in theory) reduce stress on the iRacing servers, by reducing queries into the servers’ databases.
Time Attack sounds like it will be an exclusive mode to the new UI in iRacing, and it seems like an interesting idea. Unlike the current time trial, it looks like the Time Attack mode will be more of a “cumulative” mode, with everyone competing in the same “pool” of competitors. Hopefully it will feature more traction than the Time Trial mode, as this seems pretty promising!
The new UI for iRacing is slated for release this week! Are you excited for it? Let us know in the comments!
