iRacing.com has many circuits in development, including two based in Italy, Imola and Monza. Monza is set to be the next circuit to be released, and iRacing has released a new preview video for the legendary Formula One circuit.
This circuit will be a unique addition to the iRacing roster of circuits, because you will be able to race a variety of historic layouts. The historic oval has also been scanned, which can either be a separate configuration, or paired with the main course. I am curious as to if there will be official stock car races on the oval. That could be a very interesting aspect, since the Monza oval is quite unconventional.
Monza has a storied history for Formula One, and was first built in 1922. It has been host of the Italian Grand Prix since 1922 (save for 1934-1948 and 1980). The clockwise circuit has seen many core evolutions, but has remained one of the fastest circuits on the calendar. However, it is in danger of falling off the calendar after 2016, due to contract disputes. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen, and we can enjoy the Italian Grand Prix at Monza for many years to come.
There is no set release date for Monza, but iRacing has used the word “soon” (Man, they should just trademark that word already, or seriously make this clock). Are you looking forward to Monza being released for iRacing? Let us know in the comments!
