While the main focus for iRacing is for the impending release of Dirt racing, the Bedford, Massachusetts team have revealed another car coming to the online racing service, the Ferrari 488 GTE.

The car pictured above is the Ferrari 488 GTE race car, as fielded by AF Corse. The 488 GTE is the successor to the Ferrari 458 Italia GT2, one of the well revered GT racing cars. The car is powered by a twin-turbo 3.9L V8 engine, mounted to a 6-speed semi-automatic transmission, operated by paddles.
The 488 made its debut in 2016, with a 4th-in-class/10th Overall place finish in the 24 Hours of Daytona. A 488 GTE, fielded by Risi Competizione, secured a podium in the 2016 24 Hours of LeMans, finishing second in class, behind Ganassi Racing’s Ford GT. This year, the car is off to a good start, with a third place in the 2017 24 Hours of Daytona.
The car will be the first GTE Spec racer to make its way to the racing service, so that will be a welcome addition! It will be interesting to see where/how the car fits into the service, if it will be a multi-class racer, or if it will have a new series. What would you like to see the car placed?
There is no confirmation of when the car will be released but, since it is just now being scanned, I would not expect it to be released in the next build. I would most likely wager a guess that we will see this car in Season 4.
