iRacing.com has announced another car that will be added to their GT3 class roster, the Ferrari 488 GT3! The 488 GT3 will mark the 6th GT3 car in iRacing’s roster, adding to the Audi R8, BMW Z4, Ford GT, McLaren MP4-12C, and Mercedes AMG GT3 cars.
The Ferrari 488 GT3 race car made its debut in the 2016 Australian GT3 championship. This year, the car took home the Liqui Moly Bathurst 12 Hour endurance event, with a dominant victory.
The car is also fielded in the Blancpain GT series, which is also simulated in iRacing. The car will be available in iRacing’s Blancpain Sprint and Endurance championships, as well as the IMSA Sportscar Championship. This will be a great car to add to the roster, and I’m excited to see this in the field.
Best of all, the car is set to be released next month! The Ferrari 488 GT3 will be released in September, likely in time for the iRacing 2017 Season 4 build. One interesting development is that (I believe) iRacing only supports 5 cars per class. This would be the sixth GT3 car. The question is, will it be replacing a car (like the Ford GT), or will this be the first iRacing series to feature 6 cars?
Either way, this is going to be an exciting development for iRacing! What do you think? Let us know!
