2017 will be the year we finally see Dirt racing coming to iRacing! After my preview/first impressions of the new racing discipline for the online racing service, iRacing released their first teaser trailer of the loose surface racing functionality.
The new preview video showcases the 357ci Dirt Late Model racing around the 3/8 Mile clay oval of Eldora Speedway. The footage was captured from a hosted race in the iRacing Alpha testing service, and it looks like a blast! I wasn’t in this race, but I’ve taken part in other races in the alpha, and it’s definitely fun on dirt!

In addition, we have a new preview from none other than Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series driver Kyle Larson, who I mentioned before holds a dirt racing record at my local track! This time, we don’t see him driving, but Larson Marks Racing driver Shane Stewart, also utilizing the Oculus Rift VR headset. It isn’t explicitly mentioned what Sprint Car he is driving, but considering he is competing in the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car series, I’d say it’s safe to assume he’s driving the big kahuna, the 410 Winged Sprint Car.
Shane also went to Twitter to share his thoughts on how the car behaved on the track:

While I don’t have much experience in the way of Dirt racing (well, none), I’d say that Shane Stewart is a pretty good example of someone who has experience to spare. Hearing him give high marks is a great thing!
