While the iRacing 24 Hours of Daytona was stricken with some server issues, there was one rather uplifting story I would like to bring to light, that did come from the event.
One of my friends through the past few years, Ian Plasch, has accomplished one of the most grueling tasks in Sim Racing… again! For the third year in a row, he was able to complete the full 24 Hours of Daytona in iRacing, single-handedly. In addition, he did it for a great cause!
Going under the moniker “RARChevette” on Youtube and Twitch.tv, Ian was known for being one of the first iRacing members to complete a 24 hour race, single handedly. He would run the race by himself, and would raise money for one of his local charities. This year, he ran the full race without needing any extended breaks, and completed a staggering 795 laps around Daytona International Speedway! Even more remarkable is the fact that he was able to raise $825.01 for the St. John’s Children’s Miracle Network, to help find cures for children with illnesses.
I would like to congratulate Ian Plasch on this impressive feat, and thank him for all he’s doing for the community, and for the charities! I’m looking forward to seeing what you’ll do for next year, or possibly the 24 Hours of Nurburgring?
