Chrysler has had an up and down past few years, since going bankrupt and being bought out by Fiat. However, the Street and Racing Technology division (also known as SRT) remains to be as crazy as they were before. Now, SRT has revealed their Vision Gran Turismo vehicle, envisioning “The Supercar of 2035”.
The SRT Tomahawk is likely the craziest car that Chrysler has ever developed. The car is powered by a 7.0L V10 engine with a 144 degree bank. While the displacement is smaller than the 2015 SRT Viper, the Tomahawk produces 147 horsepower more (792 horsepower vs 645 horsepower). That engine is paired with a pneumatic system that powers the front wheels with 215 horsepower, bringing the combined power to 1,007 horsepower. In a car that weighs 2,026 pounds, that equals a 250 mile per hour top speed. The car also features an active aerodynamic system, with NINE flaps on the car to keep it glued to the ground.
However, the other two versions of the car is where it goes from “crazy” to “certifiably insane!
- SRT Tomahawk GTS-R Vision Gran Turismo: This configuration is the race-spec model of the Tomahawk. The engine is tuned to pump out 1,137 horsepower, and the pneumatic system is upped to produce 313 horsepower (total of 1,450 horsepower). 500 pounds are trimmed from the car (down to 1,459 pounds), which results in a top speed in excess of 300 mph!
- SRT Tomahawk X Vision Gran Turismo: This is the “bat@#% crazy” model of the supercar. 2,168 horsepower in the V10 engine + 422 horsepower from the pneumatic system = 404 mph top speed! This car is so extreme, Polyphony Digital modeled a G-Suit on the driver, to withstand the insane performance!
