The Nissan GT-R LMP1 may be one of the most unique Le Mans Prototypes ever, featuring a front engined-front wheel drive powertrain. Around the time the car was announced, NISMO’s Darren Cox stated that the car would be available in racing titles, including Gran Turismo. Now, we have an idea on when we can race the GT-R LMP in Gran Turismo 6.
You can get behind the wheel of the Nissan GT-R LMP1 June 2nd, as part of the final round of the GT Academy online challenges. This announcement came via Laurence Wiltshire (GT Academy Managing Director) in a radio interview. You can listen to the interview below, and skip to 13:30 for the information about the Nissan GT-R LMP1.
If you’re looking forward to driving another Nissan powered prototype, the Greaves Motorsport LMP2 was just released yesterday into Gran Turismo 6. If you participate in the third round of the GT Academy time trials at Spa Francorchamps, you will be handed the keys for the LMP2 racer.
Gran Turismo 6 is not the only title that will have the GT-R LMP1 in it. UnitedRacingDesign is releasing a generic version of the unique race car, to be released in their EnduranceRacingX mod for rFactor 2. The next EGT5 release will have the “Shiro GT-PX1” as a WIP car for the mod.
