Gran Turismo Sport: Coming November 15

Since the release of the Playstation 4, many fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of the next iteration of the Gran Turismo series for Sony’s latest console. This past week, Polyphony Digital has announced Gran Turismo Sport’s release date, November 15th, 2016.

From what I’ve read, it seems that Polyphony Digital is going for more of a “Racing Revival” approach, which may be a solid approach to the series. PD has teamed up with the FIA to try to generate more interest in racing around the world. There will be two official FIA “virtual series”, via the new GT Live system. “Gran Turismo Sport” will be the virtual championship system, that will see drivers climbing a ladder system (in a similar sounding way to iRacing), with a variety of events on a schedule.

Four classes have been announced so far: Group 1, Group 3, Group 4, and Group N. The cars will be a mix of real life cars, as well as fantasy race cars built to real life specifications. For example, the Volkswagen GTI Vision Gran Turismo race car is built to real life GT3 specs.

Photo Mode will also have a total revamp, and will feature over ONE THOUSAND different locations, which have now been rebranded as “Scapes”. I will say, the preview shots look incredible, and I’m looking forward to seeing more from it.

Many Gran Turismo fans have begged PD for a livery editor, and it has finally arrived! It looks similar to the system utilized in Forza Motorsport, which isn’t exactly a bad thing. Not much else has been announced about this eagerly awaited feature, but it should be a hot feature for the community.

Are you looking forward to Gran Turismo Sport when it drops this November? Let us know in the comments!
