One of the new updates for the console side of Assetto Corsa may have shed some exciting light regarding Fanatec wheels on the Playstation 4! The changelog for the version 1.4 update for Assetto Corsa on the PS4 has shed some VERY interesting information about an upcoming wheel for Sony’s gaming console.
The image comes from a changelog for the game that was posted by GTPlanet’s KennyL74. The bottom of the changelog highlights an interesting addition to the “Hardware Support” category, “Fanatec CSL Elite Racing Wheel – Officially licensed for Sony Playstation 4”. If this is a true image, this is HUGE news for Fanatec fans, and for people wanting to use a Fanatec wheel on the PS4!
It is worth mentioning that there is no clarification on if the Playstation 4 CSL Elite is a different wheel than the Xbox One compatible CSL Elite, but this seems to be a step in the right direction.
The “dispute” between Sony and Fanatec has been fairly well documented ever since the release of the Playstation 4 saw NO wheels from the German company showing compatibility with the latest generation Sony console. Now, it looks like that bridge is being mended, and we may be able to see more Sony peripherals coming with the Playstation 4 specifically in mind.
I will reach out to Fanatec and Kunos Simulazioni to see if I can find any more information, and will update with any further developments.
