Codemasters is set to release their next iteration in their Formula One series in just a bit over 3 months! The new trailer for F1 2017 has been unveiled, showcasing the return of Classic F1 Cars!
This title is set to build off of the success of F1 2016, which had featured a more in-depth Career mode, and more technical elements of Formula One, which appealed to the racing enthusiasts. F1 2017 is looking to bring a new “Championships” game mode, along with an even deeper Career Mode!
But the most exciting announcement so far is definitely the return of classic Formula One cars, first (and last) seen in F1 2013 for the last generation of consoles (and PC). So far, four cars have been announced:
- 2002 Ferrari F2002
- 1992 Williams FW14B
- 1988 McLaren MP4/4
9 more cars are going to be announced, bringing the classic car roster to 12. One thing that is slightly irritating is that the McLaren MP4/4 is going to be a “pre-order bonus”, which may upset some Senna fans (however, it will be also available as DLC post-release). I’m definitely interested to see what cars will make their way when the game is fully released though.
Unlike F1 2013, which raced the cars in their own standalone mode, the classic cars in F1 2017 will also be involved in the Career mode. There will be “Invitational Events” where you will be invited to drive classic Formula One cars around circuits. Tracks will also feature some “Alternative Layouts”, so that will also add the the track variety. Maybe there will be historic configurations?
F1 2017 will be available August 25th Worldwide on the Playstation 4, Xbox One, PC (in both Digital and DVD formats) for $59.99.
What car would you like to see in F1 2017? Let us know! I’d love to see some classic Lotus F1 cars, myself!
