The Sauber C9 has a storied history at Le Mans, being known as one of the fastest cars ever to lap the French circuit. The C9’s 248 mph blast down the Mulsanne straight was one of the contributing factors to the two chicanes running down the straight, to keep speeds down. Despite its blistering speed, the Sauber C9 had rough luck in the race itself, with both cars failing to finish in 1987, and not even starting in 1988 (over tire concerns). In 1989, the car hit its stride with a victory, and the other 2 Sauber C9s placing in the top 5.
The virtual representation of this iconic car will be released as part of the “Dream Pack” Downloadable Content, which is set to be released after the official 1.0 release of Assetto Corsa. The pack will include the Sauber C9, along with 9 other cars, and a laser-scanned version of the Nurburgring Nordschleife, the first of it’s kind on the PC.
