One of the biggest pieces of news last year was the announcement that Assetto Corsa will be joining the console race, and now the release date has been announced: April 22nd, 2015! The retail price of the sim will be $49.99, and available at most major retailers.
The announcement comes in the form of a new trailer, which also showcases a new addition to the sim. The Ferrari FXX-K will be making its debut in Assetto Corsa as the cover car for the console version.
The Ferrari FXX-K is a tuned model of the LaFerrari, as the original Ferrari FXX was a tuned version of the Enzo. The FXX-K features the same hybrid drivetrain as the LaFerrari, but is tuned to generate over 1,035 horsepower. The gas-powered engine contributes to 848 horses under the hood, while the electric motor kicks in an extra 187. The car can rocket up to a top speed of 217 miles per hour, which will be a blast to drive.
The console version of Assetto Corsa is being adapted for the Playstation 4 and Xbox One by 505 Games, with assistance from Kunos Simulazioni. The sim will also introduce new cars to the sim, including the Ferarri F138 which raced in the 2013 Formula One World Championship. Don’t worry guys, the cars will also be released for PC.
If you pre-order Assetto Corsa on consoles, then you will be able to get the Performance Pack for free, which includes three cars:
- Ferrari 488 GTB
- Audi R8 V10 Plus
- Chevrolet Corvette C7
One thing that is unique about that DLC list is the fact that the Audi R8 V10 Plus has already been released for the PC version of Assetto Corsa, as free DLC. Could we be seeing the 488 and C7 released for free on the PC version?
