Assetto Corsa, despite being a lower-budget indie racer, has one of the most diverse car lists in a PC racing sim, even rivaling some of the console titles. They have vehicles ranging from entry-level road cars to blazing fast hypercars, as well as purpose-built race cars. Two of the most notable cars in Assetto Corsa are the LaFerrari and McLaren P1, the next generation of supercars. What is unique is that both of these cars are hybrids, but that doesn’t mean these aren’t fast! Both of these vehicles boast power ratings over 900 bhp, and a top speed of over 200 miles per hour. How the power is generated is a different story.
The LaFerrari features a 6.3L V12 engine, that generates 789 horsepower. That is combined with a 161 horsepower electric motor, that will kick in when you’re in the throttle, to produce 950 prancing ponies under the hood. The McLaren, on the other hand, has a twin-turbo 3.8L V8, pumping out 727 bhp. That, combined with a 176 horsepower electric motor, brings the total to 903 horsepower.
By that logic, you’d assume the LaFerrari to be much quicker, right? Well, it’s not that simple. The LaFerrari is lighter and more powerful, but the McLaren has more torque. Will that result in the McLaren being faster around Autodromo Nazionale Monza? Watch the video and find out!
